H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Mc Nicoll is a professional contemporary artist specializing in the 2D-3D use of plants.<\/p>\n

Plants give her a particular joy: breathing them, touching them, mixing them. They offer infinite possibilities in contemporary art<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Plants react in their own way. Each has its own personality and sensitivity. No dialogue between them and the artist’s intention takes place in the same way. Water, the essential element of Life, acts as an intermediary between the artist and the plants.<\/p>\n

The magical and graceful dance of all these actors creates a unique work of art every time<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Artistic Statement<\/span><\/h1>\n

H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Mc Nicoll’s work focuses on the existential relationship between Ourselves and Other Living Beings. She travels the cities and suburbs that are now the intersection zones where humans glimpse the entanglement between all that lives and survives.<\/p>\n

H\u00e9l\u00e8ne frequently uses the imprint technique, which bears witness to an encounter at a precise moment in the existence of the Beings involved. She reduces the distance between reality and the work to a minimum, thus freeing us from the boundary between art and life.<\/p>\n

“It happened when I was 6 or 7, playing in the forest of Canyon Sainte-Anne while my parents were developing the park. I felt interconnected with all Life around me. Since then, a part of me has retained this imprint…<\/em>“<\/p>\n

Having always been drawn to nature, H\u00e9l\u00e8ne studied Tourism Management and Intervention (UQAM) to take over the family business Canyon Sainte-Anne<\/a> with her brother. She has also completed an MBA in Management at Laval University. She devoted 10 years working tirelessly with regional authorities to have the Canyon’s banks classified as a “conservation area”.<\/p>\n

She holds a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from Laval University (Canada), and also studied at the \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure d’art et design Marseille-M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e (Marseille, France).<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the sale of Canyon Sainte-Anne in 2019 to the C\u00f4te-de-Beaupr\u00e9 community, she has accumulated various experiences in the artistic field.<\/p>\n
